G-GULLY BOY
” APNA TIME AAYEGA” a tagline which fills me with all the energy and enthusiasm, how about you? I am sure the same with you too.
Gully Boy is a story inspired by the life story of Divine & Neazy, rappers from Mumbai. It demonstrates the stardom journey of Murad from a slum Dharavi 17 to open mic eventually to a Rap Sensation.
BRIEF OF MOVIE :-
Murad (Ranveer Singh) a college-going boy lives in a slum Dharavi 17 Mumbai, with his family, he is in the love of a medical student Safeena (Alia Bhatt), who supports him in every thick and thin. Murad writes poetry and tries for rap also however, he bogged down between family condition and his passion, where his dad brought a new wife from the second marriage. Murad found himself helpless while watching her mother’s dignity and respect worsen in the house. When his father injured his leg Murad is forced to take up his father’s chauffer job to support the family, he accepts the job with a heavy heart though he feels stuck upon, but performs with whole integrity. Midst of all the hassle Murad met Sher(Siddhant Chaturvedi), a rapper once performed in his college, he inspired by Sher’s writing and rap style, Sher mentored Murad to chase his dreams and promote him to take frontline to showcase his talent in which her friend Sky(Kalki Koechlin) also helps him. The situation at Murad’s home gets crumbled by the time, he left the house with his younger brother and mother caused by he pushed himself to the desk job offered by his Uncle, who insults him every next minute and forces him to give up on his passion, by ignoring his Uncle’s all crap Murad continues his practice, participated in Rap Contest and won.
LESSON LEARNED :-
1). Chase your dreams follow your heart until your dreams don’t know your address, regardless of your problems and plights, it may distract you for a while but tell the problems that you are not going to let your dreams to slip off your hand, the way Murad did not compromise on his dreams despite endless taunts, humiliation, the pressure of the job, etc.
2). Have guts to tell your own story, a time when Murad wanted Sher to read his lines Sher refuses by saying “agar tum apni story batane ki himmat nahi karoge to dusre kyun karenge”, so be courageous enough to tell your work to the world by your action.
3). Always Respect your parents and care about your relations, the movie has shown the understanding of relations from various windows, a caring shown by Safeena for Murad by her throughout support for Murad’s dreams. I liked the way Murad step out of the house to save her mother’s self-respect and started a job in tremendous pressure just for his family. His concern towards his friends never changed even after becoming a youtube star. Murad balanced every relation of life and his dreams so well.
4). Importance of right Mentor, this movie depicts how important is to have a mentor in your life, it can be anyone in your life, what important is if you admire someone, give them due credit, listen and follow their advice, a right mentor has the ability to expand the zone of your capabilities. if you noticed Murad only used to write but it was Sher who motivated him to rap also as he smells the potential in him, Murad follows his advice honestly and the rest is history.
5). Hard Work Always Paid off, “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” Colin Powell
The outcome of your hard work may be delayed but could not be denied, so be true for your work, keep practicing, keep learning, success will definitely come to you.
That is all for today see you tomorrow with another striking character. Till then have a happy reading, leave with your comments and promise to be back tomorrow!!
